This one states that it’s on sale as well. For another mere $5 upgrade from the other shirt you can have this lovely one. The main upgrade to this one is that you get a bigger eq. By bigger I don’t mean you have more horizontal bars, but there’s more vertical.
This means more flashy nonsense when you’re at the club, doing your show or just being a goof and wearing it in public. To my knowledge and by looking at everything that seems to be the only upgrade to it. I like the appearance of it overall and for an extra $5 its not bad but that will put you over $30 for the shirt that would be a funny thing to wear to a club or show here and there. Looks wise, I’m not sure if having the extra bars is a better thing, it would almost make it too busy. The other shirt where you actually have more horizontal bars (by 2) but fewer vertical almost seems like a better fit to me. It doesn’t make it as busy from top to bottom but the color combo of the newer one grabs my attention. It would be a toss up for me on which to get, but if I had to pick today, I would go with the cheaper one unless I found a benefit for going with the more expensive one.

One thing I do notice on this model is that it states hand wash and hang dry only. That would bother me quite a bit based on the fact that most of us are lazy and that the cheaper, older version states that you can wash it in the machine by removing the battery pack. That would make me believe, that is a misprint, but without having one personally I cannot read the instructions or the tag that would identify which option to use. For the fifth year in a row, Shure is working with the audio education departments at universities to help find future recording stars. Over $13,000 in prizes are going to be awarded. The school with the winning team wil receive a donation of $3,000 towards a scholarship fund for that school. The students that are part of the team who wins will also receive a KSM32/SL large single-diaphragm condenser microphone of retail value $1075!

This is great for those who are attending college to get into recording. This could almost be seen as an American Idol event but at a college level. This would be like the debate team competing nationally or being in business classes taking part in DEX or DECA competitions.

Sweet for the dj’s or nerds that wanna standout at an electronic music event.  I think it’s kinda cool in a nerdy sort of fashion, but would be fun if you’re the right person to wear it.  This shirt features a “sound sensitive spectrum analyzer.” This means it will go more off of the frequency of the music rather the volume.  The volume will effect it, but it’s not what the system will be reading.  This obviously runs on batteries but there’s not problem there since there is a built in pocket that stores them.  What about when you have to wash the shirt?  No problems there either!  They designed it so you can remove the battery pack making it safe to wash in an ordinary washing machine.  It features 2 settings that will adjust how the bars move.  It’s basically a high volume and lower volume setting so the bars doesn’t stay maxed the entire time when you’re at the event.

I could see the 4 AAA batteries getting a little off balanced after a while or heavy if you’re jumping up and down but overall I think it’s kinda cool in a nerdy way. Right now it’s on sale for $25 which isn’t bad at all in my opinion.

Direct from Stanton is the new SCS-3D also known as “DaScatch,” which is a horrible name. I have no idea what they were thinking by calling it that, but I hope someone got fired over it. Loads of hype was built around this “Performance Control Surface” and early information was leaked onto the internet with the crappy name. This looks to me like it is a simple setup for running your current music library and would be great for the dj on the go. This would allow you to not have to carry loads of equipment with you as you travel and could be setup on a coffee table.

Additional demo working with Scratch Live

Personally using Scratch Live with turntables, it would be tough for me to switch to this product solely. However, this product offers great potential, would be a great add-on to an existing system and doesn’t require much extra gear, other than a laptop and software, which you could get for free. For someone that travels a lot, does hosue parties or doesn’t want to spend a fortune on mixers, turntables and other equipment, this looks like a great system. Until I use it though, I still love my Scratch Live and Technics. I will be excited to see updates to this product once any initial bugs get worked out.

Allen & Heath has released v1.3 software for the iLive digital console range, adding a host of new features for monitor engineering, as well as providing a platform for the iLive Editor software for online and offline show configuration.

New features in v1.3 include engineers’ fader strips for wedge and in-ears, which allow separate fader control and dedicated outputs to the operator’s listen wedge and IEM personal system. Optional processing and aux monitor mixes can be assigned to wedge or IEM strips, automatically appearing in the desired monitor when auditioned.

Another key feature is the addition of Real Time Analyzer (RTA) to enable the engineer to quickly identify feedback, tune room acoustics, and tailor the onstage monitor wedges. Accessed via the PAFL system, the frequency content of any input or mix, and the spectrum of the main mix, can be viewed on screen and on meters in the Graphic EQ flip-to-fader view.

v1.3 has new Allen & Heath designed FX types, Symphonic Chorus, the popular 80’s chorus with vox and strings presets, and Hypabass, a sub-harmonic synthesis unit to generate infra and sub-bass spectrum from a weaker bass programme.

The software also allows Allen & Heath’s range of PL remote controllers to be used with the iLive system. Connected to the Surface and MixRack via CAT5 cable and configured from the TouchScreen, the ‘plug ‘n play’ devices control mixes, mutes, levels, scene recalls and selections.

TCP/IP connectivity makes live channel mixing and processing possible over CAT5 or WIFI, so different tasks can be managed in the Editor software and the iLive Surface simultaneously.

iLive Editor also includes quick channel strip labelling and color-coding, as well as a drag and drop utility to arrange surface strips in banks and layers, and simple show, library, and scene management.
